Sometimes referred to as the VLA I, it was the predecessor to the VLA II above. This compressor started out in my recording studio, but for the last 15 years it's been in my home theater system and used to tame the dynamics of audio on DVDs. Excellent operating and cosmetic condition.

I bought this amp to use in the recording studio as a monitor amp due to its excellent audio specs, but occasionally I used it on a gig. One day while in a rack case, the case slid off the top of a speaker cabinet I was rolling. The case took the brunt of the fall which saved the amp, but the weight of the amp caused the rack ears to rip. The amp still works perfectly fine. It's a heavy amp (48 pounds) so I would recommend using it in a fixed installation, such as a recording studio or home theater setup. Comes in a SKB rack case. 270 watts per channel into 8 ohms.

From the manual: Matica amplifiers use the newest generation of linear semiconductor devices for improved performance. Their high slew rate of 80 V/ms insures that they will not generate significant TIM (transient intermodulation) distortion. The outstanding signal to noise ratio (typically better than 103 dB, A weighted, below rated output) and very low harmonic distortion (typically below .009% midband) make them ideally suited for the most critical studio monitoring applications.

 
This is a pair of very high-quality 15" subwoofers that I custom built in 2024 to replace my larger 21" subs. I've used them only three times, so they are in beautiful condition. I built these subs with one goal in mind — to be small and light enough to be handled by one person, but still be great-sounding, high-end, roadworthy subs. I chose B&C 15LDN76 15" speakers with neodymium magnets, and the cabinets are sturdy 5/8" plywood construction made by Seismic Audio.

Dimensions are approximately 21" wide, 20" deep, and 26" high. Weight is approximately 55 pounds each — light enough to be carried by one person, but I installed casters anyway for easy rolling and positioning. Parallel 1/4" and speakon connectors. Recessed side handles and pole mounts. These are awesome-sounding subs! I hate to part with them so soon after building them, but I am committed to downsizing my band in 2026 in preference of smaller, quieter gigs.

I've had this bass cabinet for probably 30 years now, and used it on 5 to 10 gigs a year. It's a Sonic cabinet with an 18" speaker. I've never verified what speaker it is, but it looks and responds like a Peavey Black Widow. Parallel 1/4" inputs. After all these years, this bass cabinet continues to work flawlessly and sound awesome. Approx. 21" x 16" x 27". Weighs 67 pounds.

Custom-Built PA Rack

I never buy pre-manufactured racks for my PA systems. Rather than pay for extra space I don't need and weight I don't want, I always custom-build my own racks to suit my particular needs. They're crude, but they work. I built this rack about 25 years ago for my mixing board, mains amp, bass amp, and sound module. The rack won't come with any of the gear shown in the photos, but I'll leave the power strips and cooling fan in it. There is also a MIDI input jack that I built into the side for convenience. Has a latching top cover and side-mounted carrying handles. 3/8" plywood construction. Approximately 20" x 20" x 16".
